3. Hazards identification Comment : Acetic acid is formed during curing on
exposure to water or humid air.
Provide adequate ventilation to control exposures to within the exposure
guideline of 10ppm (TWA).
Eye Contact: Direct contact irritates slightly with redness and swelling
Skin Contact: A single short exposure (<24 hours) may irritate. Repeated
prolonged contact (24 – 48 hours) may irritate moderately.
Inhalation: Vapour overexposure may irritate eyes, nose and throat.
Oral: Small amounts transferred to the mouth by fingers during use should
not injure. Swallowing large amounts may cause digestive discomfort.

4. First-aid measures For advice, contact a Poisons Information Centre
(Phone eg. Australia 131 126; New Zealand 0 800 764766) or a doctor.
Skin: Remove from skin and immediately flush with water for 15 minutes. Seek
medical attention if irritation or ill effects develop or persist.
Inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air. Seek medical attention if ill
effects persists.
Eye Contact: Immediately flush eyes with water for 15 minutes. Seek medical
attention.
Ingestion: No first aid should be needed.
5. Fire-fighting measures

Fire Fighting Advice: Combustible but under normal conditions of use is not
considered a risk.
Extinguishing Media: Water fog (or if unavailable fine water spray), Carbon
Dioxide, (CO2), Dry Chemical, Foam
Fire-fighting equipment: Fire fighters to wear self-contained breathing
apparatus and suitable protective clothing if risk of exposure to vapour or
products of combustion.
6. Accidental release measures
SMALL SPILLS: Slippery when spilt. Clean up immediately. Wipe up with rag or
absorbent paper. Any residual can be cleaned up with mineral turpentine or
similar hydrocarbon solvent, or acetone based nail polish remover. Cured
material can be removed by cutting or abrasion.
LARGE SPILLS: Slippery when spilt. Clean up immediately. Wear protective
equipment to prevent skin and eye contact. Avoid breathing in vapours. Work
up wind or increase ventilation. Scrape up excess material before cure.
Collect and seal in properly labelled containers or drums for disposal.
Cured material can only be removed by cutting or abrasion.
7. Handling and storage
Handling Advice: Avoid skin and eye contact and breathing in vapour.
Storage Requirements: Keep containers closed when not in use. Store in
clean, dry locations away from excessive heat
8. Exposure controls/personal protection Occupational Exposure Limits: No
value assigned for this specific material by the NOHSC Acetic evolved when
curing or exposed to water or humidity – OSHA Pel: TWA 10ppm, STEL 15ppm.
Engineering Control Measures: Ensure ventilation is adequate and that air
concentrations of components are controlled below any quoted Exposure
Levels. Use in well ventilated areas. Keep containers closed when not in
use.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Respiratory Protection: Wear organic vapour respirator meeting the
requirements of AS/NZS 1715 and AS/NZS 1716.
Ventilation: Use only with adequate ventilation. Local exhaust is
recommended. Mechanical exhaust can be used as a back up system.

mishandled and overexposure occurs are:
Ingestion: Swallowing may result in irritation to the mouth and throat. No
adverse effects expected after swallowing cured (solvent free ) sealant.
Skin contact: Repeated or prolonged contact may lead to irritation. Acetic
acid liberated is a skin irritant . Repeated or prolonged contact may lead
to allergic dermatitis in sensitive individuals. Cured sealant is not
expected to be a skin irritant.
Inhalation: Acetic acid liberated during cure may be irritating to the
mucous membranes of the respiratory tract.
